George Reinhart

George Reinhart (born October 25, 1942 in New York ; † October 25, 1997 ) was a Swiss film producer , publisher and founder of the Winterthur Photo Museum .

Life

George Reinhart was the nephew of the art collector Oskar Reinhart . Together with his brother Andreas Reinhart , he formed the fifth generation of the Volkart / Reinhart entrepreneurial family, who became prosperous through the Volkart trading company . While the latter continued to run the business, George Reinhart devoted himself increasingly to his passion for photography and film. With Markus Imhoof , he produced films such as Fluchtgefahr , Tauwetter , Die Reise and Das Boot ist voll . With the publisher Walter Keller , he founded Scalo Verlag, a specialist book publisher for contemporary photography, in the 1990s. The Fotomuseum Winterthur was founded in 1993; George Reinhart's friend Urs Stahel took over the management.
