George Robert Gray
George Robert Gray (born July 8, 1808 in Chelsea , † May 6, 1872 in London ) was a British zoologist whose focus was on the study of birds. He was the son of the zoologist Samuel Frederick Gray and brother of John Edward Gray .
Live and act
George Robert Gray graduated from Merchant's Taylor School and then focused his studies privately on entomology and ornithology . In 1831 he became an assistant at the Zoological Department of the British Museum in London. In 1842 he became a member of the “ Nomenclator Zoologicus ” commission, together with Louis Jean Rudolphe Agassiz and Charles Lucien Jules Laurent Bonaparte . In 1866 Gray was inducted into the Royal Society ; He died in London in 1872.
