Georgi Milanov started his active career as a football player in his hometown Levski together with his twin brother. Already at that time, both received offers from the major Bulgarian clubs Levski Sofia and CSKA Sofia . But not only the two capital city clubs were interested in the two young talents, Spartak Pleven also expressed his interest. After two years in Levski, both moved to Lovech in the junior division of the PFK Litex Lovech who played there . There the brothers went through various youth play classes before they came to the club's own academy in 2005. As before in their youth, the two played in a large number of championship games and often represented their club in various youth tournaments.

Georgi Milanov was an indispensable member of the academy teams until the end of his youth career in 2009. Most recently he was captain of the U-19 team and made around 75 missions in his last youth season in 2008/09. In addition to championship appearances, this also included appearances in friendly matches or in various youth tournaments. In February 2009, the then coach of the professional team Stanimir Stoilow showed that he had a lot of confidence in the young players of the club and brought the twin brothers from the academy into the professional squad. Stoilow started with 25 players, eight of whom were under 19 years of age, in the spring of 2009.

Before that, the twins won the U-19 championship in 2009 when they beat Levski Sofia's U-19 team 4-2 in the final; Georgi Milanow was also the top scorer.
