Geraldo Flach

Geraldo Flach (born August 6, 1945 in Porto Alegre ; † January 3, 2011 there ) was a Brazilian pianist , composer and arranger . He is one of the most important musicians in southern Brazil.

Life

Geraldo Flach received classical piano lessons from the age of five and became a student of Professor Max Friedrich Oskar Brückner . His career began when he was fourteen playing at dance events. In the 1960s he founded a piano trio with bass and drums and got his own program on the television station Televisão Piratini .

He worked with musicians such as Nana Caymmi , Ivan Lins , Renato Borghetti , Virgínia Rosa and Yamandu Costa and participated in recordings by Elis Regina , Emílio Santiago and Taiguara, among others . In his work, folkloric and urban music mixes in the language of jazz.

As a composer he created a range of music for films such as Treiler - A Última Tentativa , Barbosa , Ulisses , Island of Flowers , Disparos , Noite , Um Aceno na Garoa and O Gato .

Geraldo Flach has received a number of awards for his music in and outside of Brazil.
