Gerd Nettekoven (born February 26, 1956 in Bad Godesberg , today a district of Bonn ) is a German medicine functional . Together with Franz Kohlhuber, he is on the board of the German Cancer Aid Foundation , of which he is chairman.

career path

From 1974 to 1976, Nettekoven trained as an industrial clerk . In 1978 he became a commercial clerk at the German Cancer Aid. In 1982 he took over the management of the "Funding" department, from 1991 he was also deputy managing director of the German Cancer Aid and, since 1993, he was also managing director of "Dr. Mildred Scheel Academy for Research and Education ”, a subsidiary of the German Cancer Aid. Since 2000, Nettekoven has held the position of managing director of the German Cancer Aid for the areas of “funding” and “ public relations ”. Since 2007, Nettekoven has been the managing director of the German Cancer Aid, currently (as of 2017) he is chairman of the board. He was personally employed by Mildred Scheel in the 1970s shortly after the cancer aid organization was founded in the federal capital, Bonn , and has been an employee of the aid organization ever since. Nettkoven lives in Bonn.

Honors

In 2013, at the 65th Congress of the German Society for Urology , Nettekoven was honored as a “promoter of urological science”. In 2016, Nettekoven received the Johann Georg Zimmermann Medal “in recognition of his life's work to date” , one of “the highest awards for merits in cancer research in Germany”. He has made a national contribution to the development of the DKH organizational structure and donation acquisition / distribution for the optimization of cancer treatment, diagnosis and basic research.
