Gerhard Kronberg (born December 29, 1913 near Sillein , Hungary ; † January 16, 2001 ) was a Hungarian Catholic composer.

Gerhard Kronberg spent most of his youth in Gleiwitz (Upper Silesia), where he studied at the observatory. He continued his education from 1934 to 1936 at the church music school in Regensburg and finally in Straubing , where he passed his exams to become a teacher.

From 1947 he worked for over 30 years in Nördlingen as an organist and choir director at the Catholic St. Salvator Church and as a music teacher at the Maria Stern secondary school for girls, as well as at the kindergarten teacher seminar, which later became the specialist academy for social education.

After the Second Vatican Council, Gerhard Kronberg's German antiphons and mass chants were sung in numerous dioceses in Austria and Switzerland and included in the hymn books. In addition, he created a large number of sacred and secular compositions such as song and psalm masses, Advent and Christmas carols, Marian chants, liturgical chants, antiphons, a requiem, motets, cantatas and secular choral music.

In 1998, Gerhard Kronberg was honored for his services to Catholic church music with the papal order " Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice ", which was presented to him by the then Bishop Viktor Josef Dammertz in Augsburg.

Gerhard Kronberg, who made a name for himself far beyond the borders of Nördlingen, died on January 16, 2001.
