Gerhard Tittel
Gerhard Tittel (born May 13, 1937 in Vielau ) is a German composer and conductor .
Life
Gerhard Tittel initially worked as a technical draftsman in Zwickau. He then studied violin with Otto Klinge and composition with Günter Kochan at the German University of Music Berlin from 1958 to 1964 . In 1966 he became a lecturer, in 1981 professor for composition and composition and head of department there. From 1977 to 1992 he co-founded and directed the Berlin Youth Symphony Orchestra.
Awards
- 1967: Ernst Zinna Prize of the City of Berlin
- 1972: Art Prize of the FDGB (for the symphonic composition Weltall, Erde, Mensch and the cantata Knowledge and Power )
- 1972: Hanns Eisler Prize (for his first piano concerto )
- 1987: Art Prize of the GDR
