Gertrude Aubauer (born July 13, 1951 in Vienna ) is an Austrian journalist and politician. She represented the ÖVP in the Austrian National Council from 2006 to 2017 .

Life

Aubauer grew up in modest circumstances in Gänserndorf , her father was a warehouse worker, her mother a housewife.

education and profession

She first attended elementary school in Gänserndorf and then completed a general education college in Gänserndorf and Vienna. After graduating from high school, Gertrude Aubauer began studying economics at the University of Vienna , which she completed with the title Mag. Rer. soc. oec. completed.

From 1975 Gertrude Aubauer initially worked as a journalist for the current service of ORF radio. Discovered by Josef Broukal and Franz Kreuzer , Aubauer switched to the picture in 1980 , where she worked as an editor and reporter and was responsible for domestic political issues. Between 1986 and 1994 Gertrude Aubauer moderated "Zeit im Bild 1". In 1995, Aubauer moved to the ORF parliamentary editorial team and moderated the weekly parliamentary program Hohes Haus . In addition, Gertrude Aubauer wrote a weekly column under the title "Hohes Haus ausinnen" in the Kronen Zeitung . Gertrude Aubauer also works as a trainer for television interviews and rhetoric .

Political career

In Aubauer's parents' house little was said about politics.

SPÖ membership

In 1981, one year after moving to the Zeit im Bild editorial team, she joined the SPÖ and in 2000, shortly after the formation of the Black-Blue coalition , resigned from party membership.

ÖVP politician

In 2006, the ÖVP presented Gertrude Aubauer as a career changer for the 2006 National Council elections . Gertrude Aubauer received her mandate through the federal election proposal and was sworn in on October 30, 2006.

After the National Council election in Austria in 2008 , Aubauer initially no longer had a seat in the National Council due to the lower mandate of her party, but she succeeded in her mandate with the appointment of the MP Christine Marek as State Secretary in the Federal Government Faymann I and was renewed on December 3, 2008 sworn in. She is the senior spokesperson for the ÖVP.
