GfK Entertainment is a German market research company based in Baden-Baden , which offers market research data in the entertainment sector worldwide. GfK in Nuremberg is the sole shareholder of GfK Entertainment .

GfK Entertainment conducts market research in the areas of music, books, film and video games. Among other things, the official German music charts commissioned by the Federal Association of the Music Industry are determined.

Overview

GfK Entertainment is active in over 30 countries around the world. The evaluations are based on the sales figures of affiliated retailers in the sales channels of stationary retail, e-commerce, download and streaming. The sales figures are transmitted electronically and summarized in a database. They serve as a starting point for sales rankings (e.g. music charts, games charts, book bestseller lists such as fiction charts, non-fiction charts and e-book charts) and as an important indicator for market developments or sales and revenue trends.

history

GfK Entertainment was founded in 2003 under the name media control GfK International as a joint venture between GfK and Media Control . GfK has been the company's sole shareholder since 2013. In March 2014 it was renamed GfK Entertainment GmbH .
