Giovanni Caselli (physicist)
Giovanni Caselli (born May 25, 1815 in Siena , † October 5, 1891 in Florence ) was an Italian physicist .
Caselli was initially mainly politically active. Later he tried to bring physical knowledge to wide sections of the population. To this end, he founded the magazine La recreazione .
Caselli invented a as pantelegraph designated copying telegraph , which he in 1855 England and France patented left. Pantelegraphs were used in French telegraph offices on the Paris - Amiens (140 km) and Paris - Marseille (1000 km) lines until 1871.
