Glass Hammer is an American progressive rock group that was founded in 1992 by multi-instrumentalists Steve Babb and Fred Schendel in Chattanooga, Tennessee .
style
The musical style of the group is strongly influenced by Yes , Kansas , Emerson, Lake & Palmer and Genesis , supported by the collaboration of Roger Dean , who provided the album The Inconsolable Secret with his cover illustration.
The influence of these role models was particularly evident on the album Chronometree from 2000, which ties in almost seamlessly with the sound works of Yes and ELP from the early 1970s. Glass Hammer's lyrics often deal with scenarios from fantasy literature as well as religious subjects. For example, the concept album Lex Rex from 2002 dealt with the encounter of a Roman soldier with Jesus Christ.
For the album Culture of Ascent , Yes frontman Jon Anderson could be won as a guest musician.
