The Goltsteinkuppe is a recultivated waste dump that was created by mining lignite and is located in the Lucherberg district of the municipality of Inden in the Düren district . It is the highest elevation in the community. The 36 meter high Indemann stands on it . To the north is the Inden opencast mine .
In 1819 lignite was found on the manor of Baron von Goltstein in Lucherberg near Inden between Jülich and Eschweiler . In 1826 the "Goltstein-Grube" started operations under the BIAG Zukunft with an annual production of 100,000 to 150,000 bricks . It was shut down in 1869.
