Gröbers is a district of the municipality of Kabelsketal in the Saalekreis in Saxony-Anhalt and the seat of the municipal administration. The districts of Benndorf (with Bennewitz and Proitz), Gottenz , Gröbers, Osmünde and Schwoitsch belong to the village of Gröbers .

Geographical location

Around 2560 inhabitants live in the former community of Gröbers. Overall, Gröbers is characterized by its location between the nearby metropolitan areas of Halle (Saale) and Leipzig . The Kabelske flows from east to west through Gröbers. There are a total of approximately 600 allotment garden parcels in five garden sections in the village.

history

The first documentary mention of Gröber comes from the year 1182. Gröbers belonged to the Giebichenstein office in the hall circle of the Archbishopric of Magdeburg . In 1680 this came under Brandenburg-Prussian rule as the Duchy of Magdeburg . In the time of Napoleonic occupation (1807-1813) the place was assigned to the canton Dieskau in the district of Halle ( department of the Saale ) of the Kingdom of Westphalia .

During the political reorganization after the Congress of Vienna in 1815, Gröbers was attached to the administrative district of Merseburg in the Prussian province of Saxony in 1816 and assigned to the Saalkreis.

The Halle-Leipzig railway line and the Gröbers station were opened on August 18, 1848. On April 1, 1938, Osmünde and Schwoitsch were incorporated into Gröbers. On July 1, 1950, the previously independent towns of Benndorf and Gottenz were incorporated into Gröbers.

In autumn 1990 a development plan for an industrial area was drawn up. The corresponding development work began in 1992. From 1995 a new residential area was built. The railway facilities were expanded from 1998 onwards. A marshalling yard for goods traffic was created. Gröbers became an important hub for the ICE route Erfurt-Leipzig-Berlin. On January 1, 2004, Gröbers was merged with Dieskau , Dölbau and Großkugel to form the unified municipality of Kabelsketal.

Associations and citizenship

In Gröbers there is the sports club SV Eintracht Gröbers and the volunteer fire brigade Gröbers. The local mayor is Reinhard Stahl (as of 2011).

Buildings

The so-called Gröbers Castle , built in 1857, is located in Gröbers . The Gröbers manor house , the former Gröbers substation , the Villa Hallesche Strasse 16, the Villa Leipziger Strasse 3, the Villa Lindenstrasse 10 and the residential building Lindenstrasse 18 are also listed.

The Catholic St. Mary's Church is located in the village .

The federal motorway 14 runs north of Gröbers and federal road 6 runs south of the town center . From north to south, highway 168 leads from Queis to Raßnitz through Gröbers.

Through the village leads railway line Halle-Leipzig , trains the train central Germany stop at the breakpoint Gröbers (ehem. Station). The new Erfurt – Leipzig / Halle railway line will also be linked to the existing network. The Gröbers depot is located on this .

Personalities

The doctor and Hans Breuer (1883–1918), who shaped the migrant bird movement, was born in Gröbers .

The biologist and teacher Otto Schmeil (1860–1943) attended the village school in Gröbers from time to time. The farmer, agronomist and beet sugar manufacturer Ferdinand Knauer (1824–1889) died in Gröbers. The Villa Knauer, the so-called Gröbers Castle, was built for him.

From 1995 to 2002 the CDU politician Torsten Koch was mayor of the community of Gröbers.
