The Grand Café in Oslo was the leading traditional coffee house in the Norwegian capital. It was founded in 1874 by the confectioner Julius Fritzner and was located in the building of the Grand Hotel at Karl Johans gate No. 31 opposite the Storting .

Especially after the renovation at the end of the 1870s, the café became a popular meeting place for the greats from politics and art in what was then Kristiania. Nevertheless, the operators changed relatively frequently, the economic situation was occasionally tense, and the restaurant had to be financially saved several times by the Schous brewery. A picture by Per Krohg from 1928, which was installed in the café after a renovation at Schous's expense in 1932, shows around two dozen of the regulars from the 1890s, including Edvard Munch and Henrik Ibsen . Ibsen's regular table and his original cylinder were shown in the restaurant for a long time. The Grand Café also served as the breakfast restaurant of the associated hotel. It was closed on August 31, 2015. How the premises will continue to be used has not yet been determined.
