The Große Hengstbrücke is a stone arch bridge over the Prießnitz in the Saxon landscape protection area of Dresdner Heide . The bridge is a listed building .

history

The Große Hengstbrücke is one of the oldest known bridges in the Dresdner Heide. It takes the route from Radeberg to Dresden , which has been known since the 16th century at the latest . The stone bridge was built in 1558 and replaced a previously existing wooden bridge. The Hengstbrücke was repaired in 1778. In the course of the expansion of the connection from Radeberg to Dresden at the beginning of the 1840s, the bridge was also renewed. At the same time, the Heidemühle was built directly next to the Hengstbrücke .

In 1918 and 1926, the Great Hengstbrücke was damaged and partially destroyed by heavy floods, which resulted in extensive renovation and new construction work.

A comprehensive reconstruction of the bridge took place in 1999.

Building

The Große Hengstbrücke is a stone arch bridge that spans the Prießnitz with a single arch. The paved road over the bridge is provided with guard rails , behind which there is an additional metal railing. The Heidemühle, the stop at the Heidemühle and the access to the Langebrücker Hofewiese are located directly at the bridge .
