The Great Pälitzsee is located in the Mecklenburg Lake District 14 kilometers southeast of Mirow and 11 kilometers south of Wesenberg in the south of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania on the border with Brandenburg ; this runs on the north-west and south banks of the lake.
The water surface is located entirely in the urban area of Wesenberg. West of the lake is the Rheinsberg district of Großzerlang , on the east bank of the Wesenberg district of Pelzkuhl. Strasen , which also belongs to Wesenberg, is located on the bay called Große Flake in the north of the lake, in the far north is the small bay Kleine Flake .
