Large format camera

Large format is a term for film materials from 9 × 12 cm recording format . It is mostly made up as sheet film in single sheets.

Some aerial cameras use large-format rolls of film. In the past, the large format was indispensable for high-quality recordings, today it is still in use mainly because of the extensive adjustment options of the large format camera (optical bench). However, adjustable medium format cameras based on the principle of the optical bench , which are designed for medium format roll films or digital backs , are increasingly taking on this role. A previously widespread application was the exposure of large format Polaroid materials, which provided an immediately visible paper print. After the end of Polaroid production, this application is now only possible with instant photo material from Fujifilm and Polaroid Originals (formerly: The Impossible Project).
