The Grumman JF Duck and Grumman J2F Duck were amphibious aircraft produced by the US aircraft manufacturer Grumman Aerospace Corporation .
development
The single-engine biplane with retractable landing gear was produced from 1933 to 1935 and set a speed record for amphibious aircraft with 307 km / h in December 1934.
The J2F was produced from 1937 , which differed from the JF in only a few details. The best way to recognize the J2F is by the missing strut between the ailerons. The versions J2F-1 to J2F-4 hardly differed, the J2F-5 and J2F-6 had more powerful engines.
Users
The JF and J2F were used by the US Navy as a liaison aircraft and the US Coast Guard and the US Air Force for sea rescue.
Argentina also used the J2F from 1937 to 1959, Colombia flew three from 1948 and Mexico two from 1947 to 1951.
