Gudvangen is a small town in Aurland Municipality at the southern end of the Nærøyfjord in Norway .

The place was shaped by agriculture for centuries. In 1865 a connection with the steamboat to Bergen was established. This also began the boom as a small tourist resort. In addition to the steep, almost vertical rock faces that surround the place, the ride to Stalheim by horse and cart was the attraction of the place. Even today the place still lives from tourism . Regular ferry connections connect Gudvangen with other places on the Sognefjord . In summer, cruise ships also visit the small town on their journey through the Nærøyfjord.
