Guido Brisebarre

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Guido Brisebarre (* before 1147, † after 1182 before 1192) was by marriage (titular) lord of Caesarea in the Kingdom of Jerusalem .

He was the second son of Guido II Brisebarre , Lord of Beirut , and his wife Marie.

In 1182 he married Juliane Garnier , daughter of Hugo Garnier , lord of Caesarea. When her brother Walter II Garnier died in 1190, she inherited from him the claims to the rule of Caesarea, which was then occupied by the Ayyubid Sultan Saladin . As part of the Third Crusade , the rule was recaptured and restored in 1191. It is unclear whether Guido took over the government of Caesarea by virtue of his wife's right or whether he had already died at that time. It is certain that Juliane was married to her second husband Aymar de Lairon as early as 1193 , who appeared as lord of Caesarea out of her right.

From his marriage to Juliane he had four children:

  • Walter Brisebarre († 1229), Lord of Caesarea, constable of Cyprus;
  • Bernard;
  • Isabelle, ∞ Rainald of Haifa , 1229 chamberlain of Jerusalem;
  • Berthe, ∞ Rainald von Soissons, 1210 Marshal of Cyprus.
