Edmund Guido Hammer (born February 4, 1821 in Dresden ; † January 27, 1898 there ) was a German painter and draftsman. He attended the Dresden Art Academy and from 1842 Julius Huebner's studio.

As a passionate hunter he was connected to the Dresden Heath and therefore turned to animal painting . He traveled on foot to Trieste, Venice, Milan, across Lake Garda, repeated excursions to Munich, into the forests of Saxony, Bohemia, Silesia, and also into the Tyrolean mountains.

In 1866 he went to Constantinople.

His fresh, close-to-nature animal and hunting images are widely acclaimed. The Gemäldegalerie Alte Meister in Dresden has his spotted greyhound (1852) and wild boar with piglets, posed by a dog (1860).

He also drew numerous illustrations for the magazines Die Gartenlaube and the Leipziger Illustrirte Zeitung . He wrote appealing descriptions of these as well as his “Hubertus pictures”, album for hunters and hunting enthusiasts (2nd edition, Glog. 1877).

His house was in the house at Marienallee 4 on the southern edge of the Heider. He is buried in the St. Pauli cemetery .
