Guido Mingels

Guido Mingels (born June 12, 1970 in Dagmersellen ) is a Swiss journalist .

Life

Guido Mingels was born as Guido Egli in 1970 in Dagmersellen near Lucerne and grew up there. Until 1998 he studied German , philosophy and linguistics at the Universities of Bern , Frankfurt am Main and Berlin . In May 2002 he took the name of his wife Annette Mingels ; since then he has been drawing as Guido Mingels.

His first journalistic position was the Berner Zeitung , where he stayed for two years. From 2001 he worked as a freelance journalist for the Berliner Tagesspiegel , for Das Magazin des Tages-Anzeiger and for other Swiss publications, as well as for Geo . From 2002 Mingels worked for the magazine des Tages-Anzeiger in Zurich, first as an editor, then as deputy editor-in-chief and from 2009 as a reporter from New York . In 2011 he switched to Spiegel . There he was Deputy Head of Corporate Affairs from April 2016 to February 2018 and has been a correspondent in San Francisco since July 2018 .
