The Guldborgsund is a Danish waters, the islands of Falster and Lolland from each other. It connects Smålandsfarvandet in the north with the Mecklenburg Bay in the south. With a water depth of at least 6 meters, the northern part is navigable for medium-sized vehicles and is used as a waterway to the port of Nykøbing Falster . The southern part of Guldborgsund is only navigable for yachts and other small vehicles. The Guldborgsund is crossed by the Guldborgsund tunnel in the course of the E 47 and by the Kong Frederik d. IX's Bro ( German : König-Frederik-d.-IX.-Brücke ), a railway and road bridge in Nykøbing, and the Guldborgsundbroen , a road bridge in Guldborg .
