The Gundlach Holding GmbH is a company founded in 1847 the pressure - and publishing industry , which is based in the East Westphalian city of Bielefeld has.

The Gundlach Group includes DSV Deutscher Sportverlag and Bielefelder Verlag . By far the largest business area is Gundlach Verpackung GmbH from Oerlinghausen , which with 95.8 million euros generates almost two thirds of group sales.

history

In 1847 Ernst Ludwig Gundlach (born 1818) founded a bookbinding and hand gilding shop in Bielefeld. In 1874 the eldest son, August Gundlach, joined the bookbinding business and in 1879 the second son, Louis Gundlach, followed. In this year the production of packaging, folding boxes and cardboard boxes began . In addition, the first edition of the German sewing machine newspaper appeared . The first edition of Radmarkt appeared in 1886 .

In 1900 the company was converted into a public limited company. One of the founding members was Richard Kaselowsky . In that year the Bielefelder General-Anzeiger was founded. In 1905 Gundlach was the first company in Germany to set up an offset machine , and in 1923 they began printing banknotes . In 1928 Gundlach took over EG Krause GmbH from Aschersleben and Hans Gundlach, August Gundlach's son, left the board and one year later founded the company Graphia in Brackwede.

In 1949 the grandson Richard Kaselowsky Junior took over the majority in the AG and became a member of the board. In 1959 he converted the company into a limited partnership and thus became a personally liable partner . In 1965 the plant in Oerlinghausen was completed and in 1968 the company Carl Kind junior GmbH was taken over. Gebr. Klingenberg GmbH in Detmold followed a year later . In 1982 Ingeborg von Schubert (née Kaselowsky) and Bernhard von Schubert joined the management. In 1991 Gebr. Klingenberg Buchkunst Leipzig GmbH was founded. In 1995 Richard Kaselowsky handed over the chairmanship of the advisory board to his daughter Ingeborg von Schubert. In 1996 E. Gundlach Verpackung + Display GmbH and E. Gundlach Kalender GmbH became independent. In 1997 Gundlach sold the Carl Kind junior company . In 1998 E. Gundlach Verpackung GmbH and E. Gundlach Display GmbH became independent and the completed Gundlach-Karree in Bielefeld was inaugurated. Gundlach also bought the Schwerdtle & Schantz GmbH group of companies from the Tchibo Group . In 1999 Gundlach-Calendaria AG was founded in Brügg (Switzerland).

In 2000, E. Gundlach International GmbH , based in Bielefeld, was founded and DSV Deutscher Sportverlag from Cologne was bought. Paul von Schubert, son of Ingeborg and Bernhard von Schubert, became managing director of the DSV in 2001. In 2002 the calendar division, consisting of E. Gundlach Kalender GmbH (Bielefeld), EG Krause GmbH (Oerlinghausen) and Gundlach Calendaria AG ( Biel , Switzerland), was sold to Lediberg SPA from Bergamo in Italy. In addition, Gundlach rearranged itself into the three business areas Packaging + Display , Print + Poster and Publishing + Media Services . From Schwerdtle & Schantz was 2003 Gundlach Berlin , also was this year Klingenberg from Detmold with Beroset from Berlin merged. In 2005 Paul von Schubert took over the chairmanship of the management of Gundlach Holding from his father. In 2006 the two companies Gundlach Display GmbH and Gundlach Berlin Display + Verpackung GmbH were merged to form Gundlach Display + Box with locations in Berlin and Oerlinghausen.

Current changes

On June 30, 2009, Gundlach-Holding sold all shares in Gebr. Klingenberg Buchkunst Leipzig GmbH to Messedruck Leipzig GmbH . The current business with 55 employees is transferred to the buyer. The company is to be continued at its current location and in its function.

In order to meet the requirements of globalization , Gundlach Holding has founded a new plant in the desert state of Dubai . The company is called Gundlach Packaging DMCC , where DMCC stands for Dubai Multi Commodities Center . It is a joint venture between Gundlach, the majority owner of 70 percent, and the state-owned company group DMCC. The packaging plant will initially produce packaging and wrappings for tea and employ 25 people at the beginning of 2010.
