Gustav Adolf Daumiller

Gustav Adolf Daumiller (born November 10, 1876 (or November 10, 1878) in Memmingen , † January 16, 1962 in Munich ) was a German sculptor and medalist .

Life

Daumiller was born the fourth of ten children. In 1898 he began studying at the drawing academy in Hanau, which he continued from 1900 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. From 1902 to 1904 he continued his education in London and studied from 1904 to 1905 at the Académie Julian in Paris and from 1905 to 1907 at the École des Beaux-Arts there . From 1908 he worked in Munich, especially with Adolf von Hildebrand . From 1909 he was regularly represented at the art exhibitions in the Glass Palace . In addition to large and small sculptures, Daumiller also created tombs, medals and plaques. In the time of National Socialism he created designs for sculptures that were implemented in porcelain by the Rosenthal company .

He was a member of the Munich artists ' cooperative , the artists' society Allotria and the artists ' housing association. A street in Memmingen is named after the Daumiller family. Occasionally, works by the artist can be found in auction shops.
