Guy Clarkson
George Eliott "Guy" Clarkson (born January 1, 1891 in Toronto , Ontario , † October 1974 in Buffalo , New York , USA ) was a British - Canadian ice hockey player and coach .
Career
Guy Clarkson studied engineering at the University of Toronto and played for the university's Varsity Blues ice hockey team . After graduating in 1913, he came to England to study chemistry at the University of Leeds . He began playing for the Princes Ice Hockey Club , which represented England in the 1914 LIHG championship . Clarkson won the tournament with the Princes IHC. During the First World War he served as a soldier. In 1920 he represented Great Britain at the Bouvier Cup in St. Moritz
Guy Clarkson took part for the British national team at the 1924 Winter Olympics in Chamonix . With his team he won the bronze medal. He himself was used as player-coach in three games during the tournament.
His wife Alice, whom he married in 1919, was from England and Clarkson works for his father-in-law Max Mannaberg's steel company. Since his wife was of Jewish descent, he decided to return to Canada after visiting Austria in 1938 - shortly after the annexation of Austria . Clarkson later started a printing company in Buffalo , USA .
