The Hôpital Cochin is a hospital in Paris . It is located in the 14th arrondissement and is now part of the public hospital association Assistance publique - hôpitaux de Paris (AP-HP) . It is located on Rue du Faubourg-Saint-Jacques and the nearest metro station is Saint-Jacques on line 6 . Cochin Hospital is now a university hospital specializing in severe burns .

history

The hospital, which was built in 1780, has been named after Jean-Denis Cochin (1726–1783), the parish priest of the Saint-Jacques-du-Haut-Pas church and founder of a hospital for the needy and workers, since 1802 .

A research laboratory for molecular biology , genetics and cell research has been attached to the hospital since 1990 . 600 people are employed and belong to INSERM and CNRS .

The Appel de Cochin

In November 1978, the Hôpital Cochin took the then Mayor of Paris Jacques Chirac on to supply the injuries of politicians by a 26 month in Correze suffered road traffic accident had closed. On December 6, 1978, the Appel de Cochin was published, which positioned the Rassemblement pour la République in the election campaign for the 1979 European elections and got its name due to the stay of party leader Chirac in the Hôpital Cochin.
