Hölty Prize
With the Hölty Prize for Poetry from the state capital and the Sparkasse Hannover , the City of Hanover expressly ties in with the Gerrit Engelke Prize it awarded until 2007 .
With the new namesake Hölty , the founders want to make his high artistic rank the benchmark and at the same time maintain the connection to the region. In addition, there should be another “significant award that is specific to the literary genre of poetry ” (quoted after a Council decision). Accordingly, the endowment was increased significantly to 20,000 euros, which, like the Engelke Prize , is borne by the Sparkasse Hannover . The award is presented every two years.
In 2008 the independent jury consisted of Cornelia Jentzsch, Kathrin Dittmer, Michael Braun , Michael Krüger and Martin Rector.
