The Handballfreunde Springe are a handball club from the town of Springe am Deister .
history
Handball has a long tradition in Springe. There were many efforts around 1945 - but they did not lead to anything. On January 12, 1946, rules were drawn up by the Kreissportbund, and handball began in Springe in 1950. First the game was played in the district of Hameln-Pyrmont, the transition to the district of Hanover took place in 1957. At that time, the club played in the second highest German division, the district league.
The club played under the name Sportfreunde Springe until 2000 , before the club was renamed to Handballfreunde Springe.
In the 2008/09 season, Sven Lakenmacher , today's coach, and Vyacheslav Gorpischin, two internationally experienced players, were brought to the Deister in order to achieve the targeted promotion to the third highest division, the regional league. This succeeded right away at the first attempt. In the 2009/2010 season, Lakenmacher took over as player-coach from the dismissed Danilo Lonovic. At the end of the season, Springe took 3rd place as a climber and was thus able to qualify for the newly founded 3rd league .
For the 2010/11 season, manager Dennis Melching signed more top-class players in order to be able to achieve promotion to the new single-track 2nd handball Bundesliga . The most prominent newcomers were Frank Habbe and Jannis Fauteck, who played together in the 1st Bundesliga at TSV Hannover-Burgdorf in the 2009/10 season . Furthermore, the left-hander Claus Karpstein was signed by the second division TSV Hannover-Anderten . The club finished the season tied behind HSG Tarp-Wanderup in second place.
At the beginning of the 2011/12 season, the team was restructured again. So Simon Herold moved from HC Empor Rostock to Springe. Kay Behnke, Nils Eichenberger and Maximilian Kolditz from the first division club Eintracht Hildesheim had a second game right for the HF Springe. The goal of the season was the championship in the 3rd League North and the associated promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga . On the last day of the match Springe had the opportunity to advance on its own, but the team lost their home game against HSG Tarp-Wanderup, which meant that SV Henstedt-Ulzburg was able to secure the promotion spot.
In the 2014/15 season Springe reached 2nd place again in the 3rd North League behind the Wilhelmshaven HV . Due to the voluntary waiver of the master from the south squadron ( SG Leutershausen ) and the fact that the 2nd team of SC Magdeburg as champions of the east squadron was not eligible for promotion to League 2, there was a relegation tournament of each in Dresden Runner-up of the squadrons North (Springe), West ( VfL Eintracht Hagen ) and East ( HC Elbflorenz ), where two newcomers were sought. The runner-up of the season south ( SG Nußloch ) did not start. In the first of the three scheduled games Springe prevailed against Florence on the Elbe with 25:19. Since the hosts from Dresden also lost the second game against Hagen with 26:27, Springe and Hagen were already confirmed as promoted players before the last game. In the meaningless third game of the two designated promoted teams, both teams separated 40:40.
For the 2016/17 season, the league association HBL refused the HF Springe the license to continue participating in the 2nd league because evidence of economic efficiency was not submitted on time. Although the team reached fourth place in the 3rd division season north at the end of the 2017/2018 season, the club canceled the team from the 3rd division for financial reasons.
