HIMA headquarters in Brühl near Mannheim

HIMA is a company in the field of safety-related automation technology. HIMA generates half of its sales outside of Europe. A significant part of the 450 employees in Germany (800 in total) work in research and development. HIMA systems are u. a. in boiler and turbine protection, in collision avoidance in rail traffic, in industrial automation, where position detection and distance measurement accurate to a tenth of a millimeter are used in intralogistics and in the control of tank systems and pipelines . Due to the complete separation of the safety and control system and the absence of feedback , HIMA systems are integrated in the control systems of all leading manufacturers.

Products & Solutions

Since 1970, HIMA has been developing systems in which possible component faults no longer prevent safe shutdown when critical system states are reached (so-called failsafe systems). In 1970 the world's first such TÜV- tested safety system was developed, in 1997 the world's first TÜV-tested safety-related Ethernet communication (Safeethernet) with 100 Mbit / s, and in 2007 the world's first safety system certified according to EN ISO 13849 and EN 62061 . In 2008 the world's first TÜV-certified non-stop safety system HIMax came onto the market. In 2013, the company launched HICore, the smallest TÜV-certified, programmable logic safety controller in the world. Tools for fully graphic programming of the systems as well as various services are also offered.
