Lists on the subject |
The HQ-16 ( Chinese 紅旗 -16 / 红旗 -16 , Pinyin Hóng Qí-16 , in German: Rote Fahne -16 ; other designation LY-80 ) is a mobile, all-weather medium-range anti-aircraft missile system made in China . It is used to combat drones , airplanes and helicopters. It was developed from the Russian Shtil rocket.
Development history
Development of the HQ-16 began in 2005 based on the Soviet Shtil anti-aircraft system, which is the naval version of the Buk-M2. China received the Russian Shtil air defense systems from Russia for use on their Sowremenny-class and Type 052B destroyers . The development of the Chinese version is said to have been supported by the Russian armaments company Almas-Antei , so it is an improved version that has been adapted to the needs of the People's Liberation Army . In 2011, the HQ-16 was introduced to the armed forces of the PRC and exported to Pakistan a few years later. Although the HQ-16 is based on Buk technology, there are a number of differences in construction. The land-based version has 6 × 6 trucks as base vehicles, whereas the Buk system uses tracked vehicles only . Furthermore, the guided missiles are launched from cylindrical launch containers, which have to be brought into a vertical position for launch. The HQ-16 anti-aircraft missile system closes the gap between the short-range system HQ-7 and the medium to long-range system HQ-9 in the People's Liberation Army .
rocket
The missile of the HQ-16A version (LY-80) can intercept targets at altitudes of 15 m to 18 km, while the maximum range for combat aircraft is 40 km, and between 3.5 km and 12 km for cruise missiles deployed in a Fly at a height of 50 m at a speed of 300 m / s. The percentage probability of being hit by a launch should be 85% for combat aircraft and 60% for cruise missiles. The missile is guided into the target by means of radar guidance and an inertial navigation system . The guided missile has a length of 5.2 m, a mass of 650 kg (mass of the warhead: 70 kg) and can fly at a maximum speed of 1,200 m / s.
Structure of a battery
An HQ-16 battery consists of four starter vehicles, each with six starting containers, a central fire control station on a truck, two radar vehicles and a generator vehicle. The two radars of the HQ-16 battery typically consist of an L-band passive phased array radar with a range of 85 km and an S-band 3D passive phased array radar with a range of 140 km, which provides the control center with information on target tracking. This allows up to 144 targets to be recorded and up to 48 to be tracked at the same time.
Transport and start
The missiles of the marine version HHQ-16 are launched from a vertical launch system consisting of up to 32 cells. The starting system is derived from the Russian Schtil system.
The carrier unit of the land-based version is based on the China-made 6 × 6 military truck TA5350 , which was specially developed for the transport of rocket launch technology and radar systems. The TAS5380 is powered by a Deutz - BF6M1015 driven diesel engine is who provides 250 hp. The vehicle has a maximum speed of 85 km / h and should have a maximum range of 1000 km. The TA5350 can negotiate an incline of 60% and a side incline of 30% and is capable of deep wading without preparation.

variants
- HHQ-16 (LY-80): Sea-based version with 32 VLS cells, used on the type -054A class . The HHQ-16 is said to be able to effectively combat sea skimmers, which are approaching the sea target close above the water surface and can therefore only be located late.
- HQ-16A (LY-80): Land-based version with six launch tubes on a truck chassis.
- HQ-16B (LY-80): Modernized land-based version with greater range.
