history

Ohsen Castle around 1650 ( Merian engraving)

The place used to be called just Hagen . On the Merian engraving from around 1650, the inscription reads: "Hagen vor Ohsen". The castle Ohsen is attested in 1004 and 1259 as castrum called. Around 1335 the Counts of Everstein had to leave the castle to the Brunswick dukes, who in turn left them to the noble lords of Homburg , arch rivals of the Eversteiners. The keep from the beginning of the 13th century was built into the southeast wing. Bodo von Homburg (1256-1316) married Agnes von Spiegelberg in 1302 . The coat of arms of the Counts von Spiegelberg from the first half of the 15th century is on the gate tower of the outer bailey.

In the time of National Socialism , the " Reichserntedankfeste " took place above the place at the Bückeberg, on an artificially leveled area, from 1933 to 1937 .

Hagenohsen was one of 17 previously independent localities from which the municipality of Emmerthal was formed on January 1, 1973 by the "Law on the reorganization of the municipalities in the Hameln area".
