Hal Erickson

Hal Erickson (* 12. January 1950 in Cincinnati , Ohio as Harold Erickson ) is an American author , journalist , film critic and media historian at the daily newspaper The New York Times . He is the author of several works on film , television, and baseball in the United States.

life and work

Harold Erickson was born in 1950 in Cincinnati, Ohio, and graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with a degree in acting / directing in the theater department. He also earned a master's degree in theater history from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill .

After several years as a lecturer, author and actor, including in regional theaters and theaters for children, he began writing articles in 1984. Since then, Erickson has worked primarily as a media historian . From 1994 to 2009 he was senior editor at the All Movie Guide website.

Erickson has written several media books on the history of film and television for the American publisher McFarland, as well as numerous press articles for the Encyclopædia Britannica . He also works as a film critic and biographer for the New York Times .

Hal Erickson now lives in Milwaukee , Wisconsin .
