Scientific method

Yousefi differentiates between comparative and intercultural philosophy. The latter is intended to mediate between cultures and traditions with their own terminologies, questions and approaches to solutions and to include methods from hermeneutics , empiricism and phenomenology . Yousefi develops an open concept of reason , according to which every approach to reason is bound to contexts, situations and individuality - a static concept of reason, on the other hand, cannot take into account the complexity of situations, the singularity of actors and contexts. In this sense he also criticizes concepts of “tolerance”, which adopt a concept of cultures with constant characteristics (“ cultural essentialism ”). Contrary to the idea of tolerance, this leads to hierarchies and the failure of communications. This methodical approach also necessitates a criticism of previous drafts of philosophical historiography: non-European traditions would be neglected, own prerequisites would be absolutized, a “reciprocity” of intercultural philosophical communication would be excluded. In a monograph from 2006, Yousefi elaborates the basics of an "intercultural religious studies" that aims to mediate between philological and hermeneutic approaches and lines of tradition. He develops the concept of a nonviolent hermeneutics, taking power and interest into account, in order to enable the dialogue between different contextual forms of communication in all scientific fields. Yousefi “does not want to come to terms with absolutizing thought patterns that offer no space for real and open communication and reconciliation”. In his work Kampfplatz des Denkens he modified his concept of culture and communication. He rejects the thesis that there is a clash of cultures and talks about ways of thinking, ways of thinking, and ways of thinking that come to bear differently in every communicative act. Therefore, in his opinion, the field of communication is always a battleground for forms of thought, which can also have cultural or religious tints.
