Hans-Georg Backhaus

Hans-Georg Backhaus (* 1929 ) is a German economist and philosopher and one of the most important scientists in the field of Marx's theory of value . A long-term collaboration with Helmut Reichelt began in his student years . Both are considered to be co-founders of the New Marx Reading .

Life

During his studies (among others with Theodor W. Adorno ) in the 1960s, he began to deal with the Marxian theory of value. Since the 1970s he has published several articles on Marxian economic criticism.

He worked as a lecturer at the universities of Frankfurt am Main and Bremen and was involved in the founding of the “Marx Colloquium”, from which the Marx-Gesellschaft e. V. , based in Hamburg, was involved.
