Hans-Jörg Vehlewald

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hans-Jörg Vehlewald (born October 2, 1964 in Minden in Westphalia ) is a German journalist and chief politics reporter for the Bild newspaper. From March 2012 to June 2013 he was initially a "Communication and Campaigns Advisor" on the SPD's federal executive committee and later headed the communication department in the press and communication team.

Life

Vehlewald studied between 1983 and 1989 at the Free University of Berlin with a degree in political science . He then attended the Henri Nannen School in Hamburg until the beginning of 1991 , after which he worked as a reporter and editor for the radio station NDR 2 .

From July 1991 to 2001, Vehlewald was editor and correspondent for the news magazine Der Spiegel , responsible, among other things, for state politics in Hamburg, Bremen, Lower Saxony, Schleswig-Holstein and Saxony-Anhalt. In April 2001 he switched to Bild-Zeitung , where he was the chief political reporter responsible for German and European politics.

Vehlewald wrote contemporary historical articles ( Third Reich , RAF , Stasi ) articles on Scientology as well as interviews with Microsoft founder Bill Gates , with former Federal Chancellor Helmut Schmidt , his wife Loki Schmidt and former Federal President Richard von Weizsäcker .

On March 1, 2012, he moved from the Bild newspaper to the press and communications team of the SPD federal executive as a consultant. Since July 1, 2013 he has been working again as chief reporter for politics at the Bild newspaper. A message written by Vehlewald and Rolf Kleine in January 2017 by Bild caused a stir that Sigmar Gabriel would become SPD candidate for chancellor, which turned out to be a false report when Gabriel announced shortly afterwards that he would not be candidate for SPD.

Vehlewald is married and has two children.
