Hans-Michael Goldmann (born July 1, 1946 in Hildesheim ) is a German politician ( FDP ).

Life and work

After attending the elementary school in Oldenburg and Rhede / Ems, the grammar school in Papenburg , the higher commercial school in Leer and the commercial school in Oldenburg , Hans-Michael Goldmann received his Abitur in 1967. From 1967 to 1972 he studied veterinary medicine at the University of Veterinary Medicine in Hanover . He completed special training as a vocational school teacher . His traineeship for the teaching post for higher service at vocational schools falls in the period 1973 to 1974. He subsequently worked as a student adviser , senior student adviser and director of studies / head of nutrition at the study seminars in Leer / Ostfriesland and Oldenburg. In the Weser-Ems district government, he worked as a nutritionist. He is also a co-owner of a retail store.

Hans-Michael Goldmann is married and has three children.

Goldmann joined the FDP in 1984. In 1982 he became a member of the local council and mayor of Aschendorf . He also moved into the city council in 1982 as councilor of the city of Papenburg. Since 1982 member of the district council of the Emsland district, member of the district committee. From June 21, 1990 to June 20, 1994 he was a member of the Lower Saxony State Parliament in the 12th electoral term. He was elected Chairman of the Public Services Committee from June 27, 1990 to January 28, 1991. In 1998 he led the Lower Saxony FDP as the top candidate, which with 4.9% only narrowly failed to enter the state parliament. He is currently a member of the local council and local mayor of Aschendorf, deputy mayor and councilor of the city of Papenburg and a member of the district council in the Emsland district . From 2005 to 2008 Goldmann was a member of the Central Committee of German Catholics .

Goldmann had been a member of the German Bundestag since October 26, 1998 . He was a member of the Committee on Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection and on November 12, 2009 he was appointed chairman of that committee for the 17th legislative period . He was always drawn into the German Bundestag via the Lower Saxony state list. With the failure of the FDP to pass the five percent hurdle in the 2013 federal elections, Goldmann also lost his parliamentary mandate.

In the 16th legislative period, Hans-Michael Goldmann was spokesman for the FDP parliamentary group for food and agriculture, for shipping and ports, and for church politics. Until 2009 he was chairman of the Lower Saxony state group of the FDP.

Honors

In 2009, Hans-Michael Goldmann was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit (on ribbon).
