Hans-Ullrich Paeffgen

Hans-Ullrich Paeffgen (born July 2, 1945 in Bad Tölz ) is a German legal scholar .

Life

Paeffgen studied law at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn from 1967 to 1971 . In 1978 he was at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz with a thesis on the mistaken theory Dr. iur. doctorate , in 1983 he also completed his habilitation in Mainz with a paper on the dogmatics of procedural law and pre-trial detention law.

In 1983 he was offered a professorship at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn, from 1992 to 1993 he was a deputy professor at the University of Potsdam , and from 1993 to 1996 he held the chair for criminal law, criminal procedure law and criminal law history at the TU Dresden . In 1996 he was recalled to the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn.

Together with Urs Kindhäuser and Ulfrid Neumann, he is the editor of a commentary on the penal code . He is also a member of the board of trustees of the Bonn Legal Journal .

In 2008 he accused the Saxon attorney general Jörg Schwalm of intervening in investigations by the Leipzig public prosecutor's office in order to prevent criminal proceedings against the then Prime Minister Kurt Biedenkopf for breach of trust in renting the Paunsdorf Center by the Saxon authorities.

In 2010, a special issue of the Bonn legal journal appeared on his retirement with contributions from his students (including Klaus Ferdinand Gärditz and Carl-Friedrich Stuckenberg ).
