Hans Andree

Hans Andree (born November 25, 1937 in Danzig ) is a German university lecturer and professor of typography at the Hamburg University of Fine Arts .

Life

After an apprenticeship as a typesetter (1953–1957), he worked and studied in Switzerland. From 1962 to 1965 he studied typography, photography (with Gottfried Jäger ) and graphics at the Werkkunstschule in Bielefeld.

From 1966 to 1974 he was graphic assistant to Hans Michel at the Hamburg University of Fine Arts (HfbK). At the same time he practiced free and applied artistic work. What should be emphasized from this period is his fundamental work on the strobochromatogram and his involvement in the founding of the material publishing house for the University of Fine Arts Hamburg in 1972, which made it possible for students to publish art at the university.

In 1975 he was appointed to the Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences , but returned to the HfBK Hamburg as a professor of typography in 1977. Even after his retirement in 2003, he remained associated with the Hamburg University of Fine Arts as a university lecturer.
