Hans Bausch

Hans Bausch (born December 23, 1921 in Waldshut ; † November 23, 1991 in Bühl ) was a journalist and from 1958 to 1989 director of the Süddeutscher Rundfunk in Stuttgart (today Südwestrundfunk ).

Life

Hans Bausch was the son of the center politician Anton Bausch . He studied history, political science, philosophy and art history in Tübingen and then began his journalistic career in 1948 as an editor at the Schwäbische Post . In 1950 he went to Südwestfunk, where from 1952 to 1956 he was regional radio correspondent in Stuttgart and correspondent at the Federal Constitutional Court in Karlsruhe. In 1955 he did his doctorate under Hans Rothfels on the subject of radio in the political power play of the Weimar Republic . Hans Bausch had a son, Markus Bausch.

In 1958, Hans Bausch took on the incumbent director of the Süddeutscher Rundfunk, Fritz Eberhard , and was elected. His 1,956-won position as CDU - deputy in the parliament of Baden-Wuerttemberg he resigned after his election as directors.

In the dispute over a private second television program in the years around 1960, Hans Bausch took a clearly negative stance and positioned himself on this point as a decided opponent of Konrad Adenauer . Furthermore, during Bausch's time at SDR u. a. the introduction of the third radio program, regionalization in radio and the expansion of the SDR studios and SDR television in Baden-Württemberg.

From 1962 to 1972 and from 1986 to 1991 Bausch was chairman of the ARD historical commission .

Hans Bausch Media Prize

The prize was awarded for the first time in 1983 by the SDR on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the then artistic director Hans Bausch and in 1992 was named Hans Bausch Mediapreis . On March 30, 1992, it was awarded posthumously to Claudia Mast to Hans Bausch, who was honored with it in particular for his services to the field of communication science and journalism at the University of Hohenheim. The SWR continues the foundation of the same name and awards the award, endowed with 10,000 euros, to personalities or organizations “who have made a name for themselves in promoting media journalism, research and education”.
