Johannes Derben called Hans (born September 24, 1927 in Danzig ; † October 21, 2009 in Neustadt am Rübenberge ) was a German politician ( CDU ).

Derben had been in the Reich Labor Service since 1944 and participated in the Second World War in the last weeks of the war . He was wounded and taken prisoner by the Soviets. After the war he was severely damaged. Derben did not finish his schooling until after the war at a humanistic grammar school. In 1948 he became an employee in the Lower Saxony supply administration. In 1952 he was first chairman of the works and staff council at the Hanover pension office . From 1961 to 1967 he was deputy chairman of the main staff council in the Lower Saxony Ministry of Social Affairs . Derben was a member of the German employee union .

He was district chairman and, from 1961 to 1985, regional chairman of the Christian Democratic Workforce and a member of the CDA's federal board. He was also a member of the district and district executive boards of the CDU in Hanover. He was also a member of the state executive committee of the CDU in Lower Saxony . He was elected councilor of the state capital Hanover from 1961 to 1968. Here he was a member of the sports and youth welfare committee as well as deputy chairman of the social committee. In addition to his political career, he was an avowed Catholic and was also involved in the Catholic workers' movement .

Derben was initially in the 6th to 9th electoral term, from June 6, 1967 to June 20, 1982, a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament . In the 10th electoral term he was in the state parliament from October 2, 1985 to June 20, 1986. From July 8, 1970 to June 20, 1982 was secretary of the Lower Saxony state parliament.

He was the holder of the Cross of Merit on Ribbon and the Cross of Merit 1st Class of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany .

Like his wife Erika (born Seebaß on March 10, 1928 in Salder, died in Hanover ), Hans Derben succumbed to serious injuries after a traffic accident in Rehburg on Landesstraße 360. For unknown reasons, he was driving his vehicle into oncoming traffic.
