The Hans Eisenmann Center for Agricultural Sciences, since June 1, 2018 World Agricultural Systems Center, Hans Eisenmann Forum for Agricultural Sciences, is a central cross-faculty scientific institution for agricultural sciences at the Technical University of Munich on the Freising-Weihenstephan campus .

It is named after Hans Eisenmann , the Bavarian Minister of Agriculture for many years.

History of the teaching and research cooperation

In 2008 the Bavarian Council of Ministers adopted a “Concept to Strengthen Agricultural Sciences at Weihenstephan”. To implement this concept, a target agreement between the State Ministry for Science, Research and Art and the Technical University of Munich was agreed on June 4, 2008 . This also included a cooperation agreement between the Technical University of Munich (TUM), the Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences (HWST) and the Bavarian State Institute for Agriculture (LfL).

The unique spatial and thematic concentration of these contractual partners on the Freising-Weihenstephan campus formed the basis for the establishment of a teaching and research cooperation in terms of sustainable agricultural and horticultural land use.

The respective independent profile should be maintained:

  • The TUM's focus on system and basic research and the training of students,
  • the orientation of the HWST to application-related teaching, research and development projects,
  • and the LfL's concentration on implementation-oriented, applied research.

The Weihenstephan location is to be further strengthened by intensifying the cooperation.

Laying of the foundation stone for the Hans Eisenmann-Zentrum building

The office of the central institute is located in the new building of the Hans Eisenmann Center (inauguration 2013) at the Weihenstephan location. Hans Eisenmann , Bavarian Minister of Agriculture from 1969 to 1987, gave his name to this solution to ensure sustainable rural agriculture.

structure

The Hans Eisenmann Forum is a cross-faculty, scientific institution for agricultural sciences.

The central institute is under the responsibility of the university management of the Technical University of Munich and is led by a managing director. Since February 1, 2019, this position has been filled by Thomas H. Kolbe .

Members of the facility include the holders of professorships related to agricultural science at the Weihenstephan Science Center and some related professors from other faculties of the Technical University of Munich.
