Hans Georg Anniès

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hans Georg Anniès (born May 25, 1930 in Mehlauken / East Prussia ; † June 7, 2006 in Moritzburg / Saxony ) was a German printmaker and sculptor . After he was denied academic art training in the German Democratic Republic because of his non-conformist attitudes, he developed gravure printing from 1973 to 1978 after a mainly self-taught study .

Life

Hans Georg Anniès grew up in East Prussia, where, in addition to his early love for artistic work, he soon discovered the consideration of nature as an important element of his artistic vocation. The experience of the war had a lasting impact on Anniès. From 1945 to 1952 he worked as a farm worker, which further intensified his relationship with nature - the seasonal rhythms of growth and decay. In 1952 he was excluded from studying art at the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts for ideological reasons (because of his non- membership of the FDJ and his membership of the church ) . In the following years he gained his artistic training mainly through private studies. Since 1963 Anniès lived as a freelance artist and sculptor in Moritzburg and initially also worked as a commercial artist and art teacher for the church. In 1970 a studio fire caused a change in life and creativity. His work became increasingly "abstract". In 1979 he joined the Association of Visual Artists of the GDR , but was again marginalized, triggered by the refusal to sign on the 30th anniversary of the GDR. After he further developed his material aesthetic approach after the political change in the 1990s , his work was partially rehabilitated through exhibitions and prizes. In 2001 he received the Federal Cross of Merit 1st Class for his life's work. In 2006 the artist died after a long illness.
