Hans Havermann

Hans Havermann (born August 21, 1930 in Sickingmühle , Marl ; died January 24, 2015 ) was a German auditor and manager.

Life

Hans Havermann studied business administration at the University of Cologne . He began his professional activity in 1957 as a business graduate at Rheinisch Westfälische Wirtschaftsprüfungs- undberatungs AG in Cologne. In 1964 he was licensed as an auditor . In 1967 he became a board member and, after the merger in 1971, also board member of the Deutsche Treuhand Gesellschaft (DTG), which moved to Düsseldorf in 1979 . From 1985 to 1991 he was spokesman for the management board of DTG and in 1991 changed to chairing the supervisory board. During his time, through takeovers and further mergers, DTG developed into the leading auditing company in Germany.

Havermann was instrumental in founding KPMG International , of which he was European Chairman from 1992 to 1994 and whose International Chairman he was from 1993 to 1995. In 1995 he took over the chairmanship of the DTG / KPMG Group Germany, from which he left in 1997. From 1998 to 2002 he was President of the Standardization Council of the German Accounting Standards Committee (DRSC).

Havermann had his own business consultancy practice and held various supervisory and advisory board mandates. Since 1970 he has been a leading member of national and international professional associations and chief editor of the specialist journal Die Wirtschaftsprüfung .

Havermann first accepted a teaching position at the University of Cologne in 1970. In 1980 he received his doctorate there and since 1982 was honorary professor at the University of Cologne. The University of Münster awarded him an honorary doctorate in 1991, and in 1993 he received the Dr. Kausch price .
