Hans Medernach
Hans Medernach (born June 8, 1928 in Strasbourg ; † November 22, 2007 in Lüdenscheid ) was a German newspaper publisher and publicist .
Live and act
Hans Medernach was born in Strasbourg; his father was a Luxembourger , his mother a German Alsatian . Drafted as a teenager during the Second World War , he was captured. He then went to Lüdenscheid and did an apprenticeship as a typesetter in the Lüdenscheid publishing house and did an internship in Hameln . In 1957 he went to Bonn to the working group of medium-sized daily newspapers, then to Kassel , where he became the publishing director of Oncken-Verlag , the journalistic organ of the Federation of Evangelical Free Churches . In 1975 he came back to Lüdenscheid, where he took over the publishing house of his father-in-law Wilhelm Ehmer .
Medernach was active in the Leipzig Society for the Promotion of the Art of Printing , was a member of the board of the Rheinisch-Westfälischer Zeitungsverleger association and was a member of the board of the German Institute for Journalistic Education . He played a key role in founding the daily newspaper initiative . He was involved in the advisory board for the journalism course at the University of Dortmund and was on the jury for the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung's local journalist award . When the publisher Dirk Ippen joined the publishing company that became the Märkische Zeitungsverlag, Hans Medernach switched to the role of editor, a position he held until 2000.
Hans Medernach was involved in various Baptist churches . He was married and the father of four daughters. He died after a serious illness at the age of 79 in Lüdenscheid.
