Hans Merkle (born June 1, 1918 in Karlsruhe , † May 10, 1993 in Großburgwedel ) was a German football coach .

Merkle worked in German football in the 1960s . He was allowed to work in the still young Bundesliga for two years . Merkle was in charge of 1. FC Köln from 1968 to 1970 . He succeeded with the team around Wolfgang Overath . Wolfgang Weber and Heinz Flohe even made it into the final of the DFB-Pokal DFB-Pokal 1969/70 , which could only take place at the beginning of the 1970/71 season due to scheduling difficulties due to a violent winter and the 1970 World Cup. At the end of August, already in the 1970/71 season, Cologne lost 2-1 under Markle's successor Ernst Ocffekt Kickers Offenbach , where Markle himself was once a coach in the Regionalliga Süd .

From 1970 to 1983 Merkle worked as an association trainer for the Schleswig-Holstein Football Association and head of the Malente sports school , where the German national team was preparing for the 1974 World Cup in their own country .
