Hans Sponholz

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hans Sponholz (born April 9, 1902 in Kolberg , Pomerania Province , † 1982 ) was a German writer , journalist and conservationist . During the National Socialist era he wrote propaganda literature that was printed in large numbers. In the Federal Republic of Germany he was honored as a conservationist.

life and work

Sponholz was SA-Obersturmbannführer in the staff of the Supreme SA leadership (department of literature). He was temporarily editor-in-chief of the daily newspaper Die Grenzmark in Flatow , later switched to the Völkischer Beobachter and lived temporarily in Frankfurt (Oder) , later in Munich .

In Kürschner's German Literature Calendar of 1943 his works are described as "ideological, political and aesthetic literature". It is no longer mentioned in later editions of the reference work. His book The Compounded Death , published by Franz-Eher-Verlag , achieved seven editions between 1941 and 1944 with a total of 120,000 copies. As a publisher , he published in 1940 on behalf of the Intelligence Service of the SA, the book front letters of unknown the SA men , which was published in its third edition 1,941th After the end of the Second World War, numerous von Sponholz 'writings were placed on the list of literature to be sorted out in the Soviet occupation zone .

After the Second World War he settled in Ebersberg , where he worked as a journalist for the Ebersberger Zeitung, a headline of the Münchner Merkur . In April 1950 he was promoted to editor-in-chief.

In the 1960s, he became aware of plans to build a synchrotron core research facility in the Ebersberg Forest and feared that this might involve further planning. In 1965 he founded a loosely organized citizens' initiative , from which the Ebersberger Forest Protection Association emerged . The plans were abandoned in 1967, and the protection community has since turned against all further plans to damage the large, contiguous forest area that is not cut by any road.

In 1973 he founded the Ebersberg district group of the Bund Naturschutz in Bavaria , which awarded him the Bavarian Nature Conservation Prize in the same year . In 1980 he received the Federal Cross of Merit for his services to nature conservation.

Between 1964 and 1978 Sponholz wrote four books on nature and homeland protection in the Ebersberg district and, together with Hildegard Behr, a book about his native Kolberg in Pomerania .

In the 1960s, he first represented the Bavarian Party , then a free electoral association in the district council of the Ebersberg district. He was also an honorary district nature conservation officer.

After his death, one street each in Ebersberg and one in Kirchseeon were named after him. The Ebersberg city archivist only uncovered Sponholz's past through research in 2013, until then his work during National Socialism in the Ebersberg area had been unknown. As a result, both street names were reversed.
