Hans Starke (* before 1928, † after 1951) was a Swiss motorcycle racer .

Career

Hans Stärkle occupied in 1928 with his wife Cecily in as part of the Grand Prix of Switzerland on the de Circuit Meyrin in Geneva discharged motorcycle championship in the 600-cm³- team class behind compatriot Edgar d'Eternod ( Sunbeam ) and the British Ernie Nott ( Rudge ) on Scott in third place. Between 1929 and 1936 they won the Swiss championship four times . Brother Ernst also won two Swiss championships in sidecar racing.

Between 1931 and 1935 the couple won five times in a row on NSU at the Swiss Grand Prix in Bremgarten near Bern in the 600 team category.

In Germany too , Starke / Starke were successful on many important race tracks. They won three times in the Freiburg-Schauinsland hill climb (1928 on Scott, 1932 on 600 cm³ NSU and 1936 on 1000 cm³ NSU), twice the Eilenriederennen in Hanover (1933 and 1936) and also once the Eifelrennen on the Nürburgring (1933 ). In the 1930s, the two were traveling on NSU. The German team drivers Conrad Dürr and Heiner Frey and the Starkles formed a racing community from 1934 onwards . In 1936, the sidecar specialists from Basel were double winners at the Feldberg race on the Großer Feldberg im Taunus . The Starke couple won the races up to 600 cm³ in front of Hans Schumann / Erwin Badsching (NSU) and up to 1000 cm³ in front of Karl Braun / Franz Höller ( DKW ) on NSU .

After the Second World War , the first European motorcycle championship was held in Bremgarten in 1947 . First the Italians Luigi Cavanna / Paolo Cavanna won on Moto Guzzi . But he was later disqualified and so it came to a Swiss double victory: Hans Haldemann ( Norton ) ahead of Hans strengkle / Cilly strengkle (NSU) - 19 years after the third place at the EM in Geneva.

Two victories outside Germany and Switzerland are known only from the year 1935: They won the Barcelona Grand Prix on the Circuit de Montjuïc and won the Grossglockner Trophy.
