Works

Imperial monument for the Speyer Cathedral

Valkenauer was best known for his commissioned work for Emperor Maximilian I for the Speyer Cathedral . 12 slender columns were supposed to support round arches with a mighty crown hoop and palmettes, with an artistic marble statue of an emperor, king or empress planned under a canopy on each of the 12 supports. The work was largely completed, but not delivered to Speyr because the client had died in the meantime. It was never completed, eight male and three female statues are preserved in the Salzburg Museum.
