Hans Walrab von Wangenheim

Hans Walrab von Wangenheim (born December 13, 1884 in Klein Spiegel , Saatzig district ; † 1947 ) was a German agricultural politician and newspaper publisher.

Life

Hans Walrab von Wangenheim was born as the son of the manor owner and agricultural leader Conrad von Wangenheim . In 1903 he graduated from high school in Stargard. He then studied law at the Universities of Heidelberg and Greifswald. In Heidelberg he became a member of the Corps Saxo-Borussia at the beginning of his studies . In 1906 he passed the trainee exam. As a one-year volunteer, he did military service with Uhlan Regiment No. 9 in Demmin. After working for the district office in Munich-Gladbach , he became the acting representative of the mayor in Elsen in 1909. In 1912 he passed the great state examination.

After a practical activity, including as a volunteer and unskilled worker at cooperatives, chambers of agriculture and a chamber of commerce, he became a laborer at the Bergen auf Rügen district office in 1913. In 1914 he became acting head of the administration of the Rügen district. From 1916 to 1917 he was a department head at the Oberpräsiden Magdeburg and Stettin. From 1917 to 1918 he took part in the First World War as a soldier. In 1919 he resigned from the civil service as a member of the government and until 1925 held the position of director of the Chamber of Agriculture for the Pomeranian Province in Szczecin. On November 1, 1925, he became general director and board member of the German daily printing and publishing company in Berlin. Here he was responsible for the political and publishing management of the newspaper. He was a board member of the Association of Metropolitan Newspaper Publishers and a member of the mining board of the Wintershall union.

Awards

During the First World War, von Wangenheim was awarded the Iron Cross II. Class, the Red Cross Medal III. Class and the Austrian Decoration of Honor from the Red Cross II. Class.
